Creating From a Place of Joy
Whether he is writing, acting, cooking, or doing anything creative, Steven intentionally works from an emotional space of pleasure and fulfillment. He believes that when something brings you genuine joy, you are far more likely to give your best to it. When it does not, the work suffers.
“Whether I am writing, acting, cooking or anything creative, I am in an emotional space of happiness and pleasure. If it doesn’t bring you joy then you are less likely to put your best foot forward and put yourself into your work.”
For Steven, storytelling is a return. It is a way to step away from outside noise and reconnect with what feels authentic and energizing.
“I am always returning to a place where I can find solace from the influences of the outside world and just do me and the things that bring me great joy like writing and sharing my stories.”
That return to self is not accidental. It is intentional.
A Sanctuary for Creative Freedom
Steven describes his home as warm, comfortable, and inviting. Within that space, he has created a dedicated area that serves as a sanctuary for writing and studying the craft. It is cozy. It is tranquil. It is a place where music can play and imagination can expand without interruption.
He understands that creativity requires emotional safety. Not protection from feedback, but freedom from internal judgment.
“I need to be in an environment that I feel I can safely allow my creative flow to happen in a non judgemental way. A space where I can fearlessly explore emotions and allow my creative expression to come out.”
When he enters that space, he allows his imagination to move unapologetically. Characters, emotions, and entire worlds take shape because he gives them permission to exist fully. That freedom is what allows him to bring strong emotional depth to his scenes and to the overall story.
As a fiction writer, he believes the mind must be set free in order to create people, places, and experiences that feel alive on the page.
Becoming More of Who He Has Always Been
When asked how writing has changed him over time, Steven offers a thoughtful distinction. He does not believe writing has changed who he is. Instead, it has allowed him to grow into a better version of the person he has always been.
“I do not feel that writing has changed me per say. I feel that writing has allowed the person I have always been to grow and become a better version of myself without changing me.”
That perspective reflects a quiet confidence. Writing has strengthened his identity rather than reshaped it. Through the process, he has discovered that his creativity runs deep and is endless. He has also learned something equally important.
Readers genuinely want his stories.
Writing has confirmed for him that he can and does create interesting narratives that resonate. That belief does not come from ego. It comes from experience. It comes from showing up to the page and seeing the response.
What He Hopes Lingers
He wants readers to reflect on the events that unfolded and consider why things happened the way they did. He wants them to ask themselves how they would have handled the same circumstances. He hopes they imagine what it would feel like to stand in the place of the main character, regardless of background or differences.
“Look at the story through the eyes of the main character and understand we are not all that different no matter our background.”
At its core, Steven’s goal is simple but meaningful. He wants his stories to inspire reflection. He wants readers to carry questions with them. He wants them to keep thinking long after the final page.
Because in the end, thinking deeply about one another may be one of the most powerful outcomes a story can create.
