ABOUT THE BOOK
Book 1 of 2: The Ogilvie Family Series
An accidental meeting leads to romance. Add an old ex-girlfriend with a taste for vengeance and buckle up for twists and turns when romance and retribution collide. Bess and James, two wounded people in their fifties, discover that love always finds a way.
Bess Parker, a local therapist, is knocked to the sidewalk by skateboarders in front of It’s About Time, a Main Street clock shop. The shopkeeper, James Ogilvie, offers first aid and a dram of whiskey, for medicinal purposes. Slowly, they become friends, agreeing there will be no romance. Bess, age fifty-three, is recovering from divorce number two and isn’t willing to take a chance on number three. At fifty-six years old, James’s baggage includes the death of his wife, and being tormented by Maura, a bitter, narcissistic woman he dated in college. Maura never forgave James for marrying her friend Caroline. Her grudge has no expiration date and punishment is something she is good at. When Maura discovers James’s growing affection for Bess, she is set on a path of vengeance. James knows he has to stand up to Maura or risk losing Bess, but taking a stand means facing Maura’s escalating and dangerous anger.
