ABOUT THE BOOK

Some people find hobbies. Cher finds cold cases.

Cher Scholl is not a detective. She has no badge, no police training, and absolutely no business investigating crimes. What she does have is an obsession with true crime, an inconvenient habit of noticing things other people overlook, and an inability to leave unanswered questions alone.

What begins with a chance encounter during a kidney stone hospitalization soon pulls Cher into forgotten disappearances, old evidence, buried secrets, and mysteries that refuse to stay in the past.

Along for the ride are her sarcastic teenage son Ashton, her opinionated mother Nikol, her reporter best friend Molli, a police-station crew that isn’t quite sure what to do with her, and Detective Travis Hale—the frustratingly serious homicide detective who may be becoming something more than her reluctant partner in crime-solving.

Each book in the Not Exactly a Detective Mystery series brings a new mystery, plenty of suspects, unexpected twists, family chaos, slow-burn romance, and one very determined woman proving that sometimes solving a case isn’t about having a badge.

It’s about asking the question everyone else stopped asking.

Funny, suspenseful, warm, and filled with characters you’ll want to keep coming back to, this mystery series is perfect for readers who like their cold cases with humor, heart, and a heroine who is definitely not exactly a detective.
