Episode 30: You’re Always One Thought Away From a Different Life

The Moment Most People Miss

There’s a moment that happens more often than we realize. It doesn’t announce itself. It doesn’t arrive with noise, and it rarely looks like a breakthrough. It just shows up quietly, in the middle of your day, while you’re already moving through your life.

And if you’re not paying attention, you miss it.

You are one thought away from experiencing your life differently. Not a different life. Not a different situation. The same moment, seen in a new way. And that simple shift can change everything.

The Moment I Noticed It

I saw this clearly the other day, and it didn’t happen during anything big. It wasn’t tied to a milestone or some major turning point. It was something simple.

I was looking at the Indie Author Bookstore. The growth, the traffic, the new books being added, authors stepping forward, everything gradually building over time. And for a second, I paused. Not to fix anything or adjust anything, just to actually look at it.

That’s when it hit me.

There wasn’t just one way to take in what I was seeing. There were multiple perspectives available at the same time.

One thought said there’s still so much to figure out. Another said this is coming together.

Same screen. Same numbers. Same exact reality. But two completely different internal experiences.

One felt tight. It carried pressure and urgency, like I needed to do more, fix more, move faster. The other felt steady. It felt like progress, like movement, like something real was already happening and I was part of it.

Nothing changed on the outside. Not a single number. Not a single result.

But everything shifted on the inside.

The difference wasn’t the situation. It was the thought.

You’re Already Experiencing This

Once I saw it, I started noticing it everywhere. Not just in business, but in everyday life. In small, ordinary moments that would normally pass without a second thought.

If you’re writing, you’ve felt this. There are moments where you think this isn’t working yet, and then moments where you can feel that something is starting to take shape.

If you’re creating something, anything at all, you’ve experienced the same shift. One thought says this isn’t where I want it. Another recognizes that it’s evolving.

If you’re working with people, leading, teaching, helping, you’ve felt it there too. Sometimes it feels like this isn’t connecting, and other times you can sense that it’s reaching someone, even if you can’t fully see it yet.

And if your work is steady and hands-on, building something over time, growing something real, you know this rhythm. There are moments where it feels like this is taking time, and others where you can see that it’s moving forward exactly as it should.

Same effort. Same work. Completely different experience.

And if you’re honest, you’ve probably felt both, sometimes within minutes of each other.

Same life. Different perspective.

How This Actually Works

This isn’t abstract. It’s practical.

Every situation you move through is influenced by the thought you bring into it. And that thought carries energy. Not in a complicated way, but in a very real, grounded way.

That energy shapes how you feel, how you show up, and what you choose to do next. And what you do next begins to shape what happens next.

Thought leads to feeling. Feeling leads to action. Action leads to results.

This loop is always running, whether you’re aware of it or not. But once you begin to notice it, something shifts. Your attention sharpens. You start seeing what’s already there.

What you focus on becomes more visible. What you expect becomes easier to recognize. What you’re open to begins to appear more often.

Not because life suddenly changed, but because your awareness did.

The White Feather Moments

You’ve probably experienced moments where something small stands out. Not loud or obvious, just enough to make you pause for a second.

For me, it’s been white feathers.

And what’s interesting about that is they may have always been there. Scattered along the same paths, showing up in the same places. But once I started noticing them, I started seeing them more often.

Not because they suddenly appeared, but because I was paying attention.

And you likely have your own version of this. It might be a pattern that keeps showing up, a type of opportunity, a conversation that sticks with you, or a feeling that becomes familiar over time.

Something subtle that becomes visible once your attention shifts toward it.

What you give your attention to becomes easier to see.

Bringing It Back to Real Life

When I look at what I’m building, the bookstore, the community, the authors, the readers, I can feel the movement. I can see what’s already happening.

But I can also see how easy it would be to miss it.

There’s a version of the story that says there’s still more to go. Always reaching, always focused on what hasn’t happened yet. And there’s another version that says this is already unfolding, something real is taking shape, something is working.

Both are true, but they feel completely different.

One feels like waiting. The other feels like progress.

And that shift begins with a thought.

You Might Be Closer Than You Think

You might be closer than you think. Closer to what you’re building, closer to where you’re going, closer to something real taking shape.

Not because everything is finished, but because something is already in motion.

And sometimes, the only thing that needs to change is the way you’re seeing it.

You are always one thought away.

The Savage Challenge

Try this today.

Find one situation, something that feels uncertain or still in progress. Instead of reacting the way you normally would, pause for a moment and ask yourself, what’s another way to see this?

Not the perfect answer, just a different one.

Let it sit. Stay open. Stay curious. Then notice what changes. How it feels, how you respond, what you choose next.

Because even a small shift in thinking can create a completely different experience. And that experience can lead you somewhere new.

Final Thought

Maybe your life isn’t waiting to change. Maybe it’s already changing.

And you’re just beginning to see it.

If this resonated, share it with someone who might be one thought away from seeing things differently.
