To Seduce a Senator
by Carrie Ray
Independent widow Junia must sabotage the reformer she secretly loves.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Book 3: To Seduce a Senator the focus shifts to Livia’s cousin, Junia, a widow who has managed to maintain her independence and her late husband’s vast shipping fortune despite the Augusta’s constant pressure for her to remarry. The central conflict arises when a charismatic and populist reformer named Gaius Valerius enters the race for Consul, threatening the traditional power structures the family has spent generations building. To protect their interests, the Augusta tasks Junia with using her social influence-and her charm-to get close to Valerius, learn his political weaknesses, and ultimately ensure his defeat in the Senate elections. However, Junia discovers that Valerius is the only man in Rome who treats her as an intellectual equal, and she finds herself genuinely drawn to his vision for a Republic that values merit over lineage. As the election draws near, Junia is caught in a double-cross where she must decide whether to sabotage Valerius’s career to remain in the family’s good graces or risk her own fortune and safety to help him win. The story explores the cutthroat nature of Roman politics through the lens of a high-society romance, where a single dinner party or a public endorsement in the Forum can shift the fate of the entire city.
