Retiring in a developing country like Panama is only right for some. In 2018, my wife, Jen, and I took the chance and have no regrets. When we started the research, we found that there needed to be better, reliable, and transparent information. We started blogging, and soon after moving, I wrote “2 Retire in Panama?“. The widely popular account of our experiences and adventures returns with new updated information, and great new adventures. The Retired in Panama Newsletter keeps its readers updated on current events in Panama, but nothing is better than having a fresh, new, updated book.

Retired in Panama is my best attempt to answer questions about moving to a developing country. It tells our experience of retiring and becoming expats in Panama. It’s a cross-section of our adventures and experiences that entertains and educates along the way.

I’ve not whitewashed the experience like the glossy blogs and websites that only want you to see the best that their country of choice has to offer. I’ve provided an honest, straightforward approach so that you can be prepared for what you’ll encounter as you enter a new chapter of your life.

I have signed dozens of ragged, highlighted, dogeared, and tabulated copies of the original book. Each person who asks to meet us has used it as a travel guide or manual to work through the immigration process. I never expected it to be received or used that way, but I’m happy it helped so many people.
