Life rarely hands us a perfect plan. More often, it hands us long days, messy schedules, and a constant tug between responsibilities and dreams. Somewhere in the middle of that chaos, the things that matter most are born, not because everything lined up neatly, but because we chose to say yes when inspiration knocked.
That is exactly how Motivated Savages came to life.
It did not start as a polished strategy or a neatly designed business plan. It began as a spark, a phrase that would not leave me alone, and turned into a movement of resilience, growth, and bold action. A year later, it is a thriving community that exists to help people discover their strength and step into the life they are meant to live.
This post takes you behind the curtain of how that idea grew into a movement, how family and career shaped the journey, and how alignment often shows up in seasons that feel anything but simple. Along the way, you will see why bold action, imperfect, messy, and unplanned, is the true path to personal growth.
The Spark That Started It All
The story begins in the most ordinary of moments. My days were packed with HR leadership responsibilities, family commitments, swim practices, and late-night dishes. There was no extra time or open space in my calendar.
But creativity does not ask for permission. It shows up anyway.
I had felt sparks before, like when I used to design concert posters for my husband’s band, splattered with ink and fueled by pure adrenaline. Or when I launched a parenting blog called Solid Parent, where I blended heartfelt reflections with recipes and a touch of chaotic mom humor. That blog did not last, but it reminded me how much I loved creating things that connected with people.
So when the phrase Motivated Savages landed in my mind, I didn’t overthink it. I didn’t wait for the perfect time or a clear plan. I simply said yes.
That yes changed everything.
From Spark to Movement
Once I committed to it, the ideas came fast and uninvited, on car rides, in the grocery store aisle, and while waiting poolside at swim meets. Instead of ignoring them, I caught them. I texted myself notes, recorded voice memos, and built on those fragments late at night when the house was quiet.
Technology became my creative partner, letting me capture sparks before they faded.
At the same time, life around me did not slow down. My HR career was demanding. I was mentoring new professionals, earning credentials, and managing the full spectrum of people challenges. My husband continued showing up daily for the non-profit he has served for nearly three decades, modeling dedication and impact.
And our kids were thriving.
My oldest son graduated high school with a powerful speech called Confidence Opens All Doors. Today, he is living those words in college, swimming at the next level, and proving daily that confidence fuels opportunity. My middle son captains his high school swim team, pushing himself to dream big while exploring colleges that will challenge and inspire him. My daughter lights up third grade with her kind heart, sharp mind, and fearless drive.
Watching them grow reminded me of something important. They were not just hearing the words we said about resilience and purpose. They were watching us live it. And they were modeling those lessons in their own lives.
That realization gave me more energy to keep building Motivated Savages. It stopped being a side project and became a reflection of our family’s values, resilience, growth, and bold action.
Alignment in the Chaos
At first, I thought I was simply working. Squeezing in podcasts, blog drafts, and coaching sessions between HR projects, bedtime snacks, and parent-teacher meetings.
But it was not just work. It was alignment.
Every late night, every note captured in the car, every spark of an idea followed by action. Together, those small steps were building something bigger than I could see at the time.
That is what alignment feels like. It is not about slowing life down until everything is calm and perfect. It is about noticing that the very chaos you are living might actually be planting the seeds of something extraordinary.
Alignment does not demand silence. It demands presence.
Lessons From a Year of Building
As Motivated Savages approaches its first birthday, I have realized this movement was never just about me. It was always about creating space for others to step into their own boldness.
Here are a few of the lessons this journey has taught me.
Bold Action Creates Momentum
Waiting for the perfect time is a trap. The spark that grows into something meaningful almost always begins in messy seasons. The secret is to act anyway.
Family Is Part of the Story
Our kids don’t just listen. They watch. Every time we chase a goal, every time we choose persistence over giving up, they are learning what resilience looks like. That is legacy in real time.
Growth Can Be Steady or Explosive
My husband has stayed with the same non-profit for decades, showing what steady, grounded growth looks like. My journey has been filled with pivots, risks, and new chapters. Both paths are powerful. Growth does not have one face.
Alignment Does Not Mean Easy
Alignment often hides in chaos. The trick is recognizing when the things that feel too busy are actually building blocks for something more.
Why Motivated Savages Exists
At its core, Motivated Savages exists for you, the person who feels like life has gotten too messy, too complicated, or too late to start fresh.
It exists for the mom staring at her laptop after bedtime, wondering if her dream matters. It exists for the dad sitting in traffic replaying the goals he put on the shelf. It exists for the leader questioning if they are capable of more. It exists for the dreamer who is terrified of failing but even more terrified of staying stuck.
This movement is proof that you do not need a flawless plan. You need one spark, one step, one yes. And then, consistency.
Because bold living does not wait for perfect. It grows through action.
Savage Challenge of the Week
Here is where it gets practical. Every episode comes with a Savage Challenge to help you put growth into motion.
This week’s challenge: Pick one idea that has been quietly sitting in the back of your mind. It might be small. It might feel impossible. But do not ignore it another day.
Write the first line. Sketch the rough draft. Tell someone about it. Register the name.
Don’t worry about finishing it. Don’t worry about polishing it. Just take one action that turns it from thought to reality.
Because movements do not start with perfection. They start with a single act of courage.
And when you share your step with someone else, you multiply its power, because your action might be the spark that gives someone else permission to act too.
Closing Thoughts
The story of Motivated Savages is not really about a website, a podcast, or a blog. It is about what happens when you choose to honor the spark that will not leave you alone.
It is about alignment in the chaos, growth in the ordinary, and courage in the face of fear.
And it is about reminding you, yes you reading this, that you are more capable, more powerful, and more ready than you have been telling yourself.
So take your spark, your idea, your whisper, and give it the dignity of action.
Because your story is still unfolding. And the next chapter could be the one that changes everything.
Now it is your turn. The Savage Movement is not just my story, it is ours. Every bold step you take, every spark you chase, every moment you choose growth over fear, you bring fire to this community.
So I invite you to join us. Share your wins, share your struggles, and bring your full energy to the movement. Together, we are building something bigger than ourselves. A place where resilience, purpose, and inspired action collide.
Your fire matters here. And when we bring it together, we ignite a blaze that can light the way for countless others.
Live bold. Grow on purpose. And bring your fire to the Savage Movement.
